# Cookie Policy

## Your cookie settings

Allow analytics Essential only

## What this policy covers

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies PeptideSupermarket® uses, what each one does, and how to accept, decline or change your choice. PeptideSupermarket® is operated by PeptideSupermarket®.

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. "Similar technologies" means other ways a site can keep information in your browser, such as local storage. This policy covers both, and uses the word "cookies" for both below unless the difference matters.

## Your choice: accept all or essential only

The first time you visit we ask whether you are happy for us to use analytics. Until you answer, only essential cookies are used.

- **Accept all:** the analytics tools listed below (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) load and set their cookies, and our own visitor counter stores an anonymous visitor ID in your browser.
- **Essential only:** none of the analytics tools load, no analytics cookies are set, and the visitor counter is switched off. Any analytics cookies left on your device from an earlier visit are removed where we are able to, and the anonymous visitor ID is deleted.

The site works exactly the same either way. Price comparison, search, filters and links to suppliers do not depend on your choice, and declining does not affect the referral links described further down.

Your answer is kept in your browser's local storage (not in a cookie) for 12 months, after which we ask again. You can change it at any time: use the cookie button in the bottom corner of any page, the Cookie Settings link in the footer, or the panel at the top of this page. Switching from "accept all" to "essential only" takes effect straight away and reloads the page so that nothing carries on running.

## Essential cookies and storage

These are needed for the site to work, or are set only because you did something that needs them. They cannot be switched off from the cookie prompt, and none of them are used for analytics or advertising.

- **Session cookie** (laravel_session): created only when you use an interactive feature such as search, filters or a form, or when you sign in. It keeps your place while you use the site and expires after two hours of inactivity.
- **Security token** (XSRF-TOKEN): set alongside the session cookie to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. Same lifetime.
- **Remember me** (remember_web): set only if you tick "remember me" when signing in to a supplier or staff account, so you stay signed in. Lasts up to five years or until you sign out.
- **Prompt dismissals** (newsletter_dismissed, outbound_dismissed): set only when you close one of our sign-up prompts, so we do not show it to you again. Kept for between one day and one year depending on the prompt and whether you subscribed.
- **Cookie choice** (psm_cookie_consent, local storage): records whether you accepted or declined analytics. Kept for 12 months.
- **Activity popup dismissal** (socialProofDismissed, local storage): set when you close the "recent activity" popup, so it stays closed.
- **Country site choice** (psm_market_prompt, local storage): set only when you choose to stay on this site after we have suggested our site for the country you appear to be in, so that we do not suggest it again for 30 days. To make that suggestion, your browser asks our network provider, Cloudflare, which country it is connecting from; nothing about that is stored.
- **Supplier suggestion dismissal** (psm_suggestion_seen_ followed by a supplier ID, session storage): set only when you choose to carry on to a supplier after we have offered you alternatives, so that we do not offer them again. Cleared when you close the browser tab.
- **Staff marker** (edge_bypass): set only for signed-in staff so that their pages are not served from our cache. Visitors never receive it.

Most pages are delivered from a cache without any cookies, so a visitor who only reads pages and never signs in or uses an interactive feature typically receives no cookies from us at all.

## Analytics (only if you accept)

These help us understand how the site is used: which pages are popular, where visitors come from, and where the site is confusing. None of it is used to identify you personally or to show you advertising.

### Google Analytics

Measures page views, session length and traffic sources. Cookies: _ga and _ga_ followed by our property ID, both kept for two years. Google's handling of the data is described in [Google's privacy policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).

### Microsoft Clarity

Produces heatmaps and anonymised session recordings so we can see how pages are actually used. Anything typed into a form is masked by default. Cookies: _clck (one year) and _clsk (one day) on this site; Clarity may also set Microsoft cookies such as MUID on its own domains. See [Microsoft's privacy statement](https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement).

### Our own visitor counter

When you accept, we store a random visitor ID (visitor_id, local storage, no expiry) in your browser and send it to us once, together with the page you arrived on, the site that referred you, any campaign tags in the address, your IP address and your browser type. This counts unique visitors and tells us which sources bring people to the site. It is stored on our own servers, is not shared with anyone, and is deleted from your browser if you switch to essential only.

### Which version of a page you saw

Now and then we show two versions of something, such as a sign-up form, to different visitors to learn which works better. When you accept analytics, we remember which version you were given (psm_experiments, local storage, no expiry) so you keep seeing the same one, and it is removed if you switch to essential only. Whatever you choose, we count how many people saw each version and how many went on to sign up; that count is anonymous and stores nothing on your device.

## Analytics that use no cookies

We also use Fathom Analytics, which is designed to work without cookies. It stores nothing on your device, does not follow you between websites and does not collect personal information, so it runs whether or not you accept analytics. It gives us page view counts and little else.

## Clicks to supplier websites

When you click through to a supplier we record the click on our servers: which product, when, the area of the page the link was in, your IP address and browser type. This lets us report to suppliers how many visitors we send them, which is how the site is funded. We do not set a cookie to do this, and it works the same whether you accepted or declined analytics.

The link you follow carries a referral code and campaign tags so the supplier knows the visit came from us. Some suppliers store that referral code in a cookie on their own website, typically for up to 90 days, so that a later purchase can be credited to us. That cookie is set by the supplier, on the supplier's domain, and is covered by their cookie policy rather than ours. We only learn about a purchase if the supplier reports a referred order to us, and when they do we receive an order reference and value, never your name, address or payment details.

## Third-party cookies

Apart from the analytics providers above, which only run if you accept, we do not embed third-party scripts that set cookies. Supplier websites you click through to have their own cookies and policies, which we do not control.

## Managing cookies in your browser

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, which applies to every website you visit:

- **Chrome:** Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies
- **Firefox:** Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data
- **Safari:** Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data
- **Edge:** Settings, then Cookies and site permissions

Blocking essential cookies may stop interactive features such as search, filters and sign-in from working. Clearing your browser's site data also clears your cookie choice, so we will ask again on your next visit.

## Changes to this policy

We update this page whenever the tools we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
